Overview

Shrines and temples are often depicted as landmarks in ukiyo-e landscapes. They were objects of people's devotion, but they also became travel destinations. In addition to famous landscape paintings of temples and shrines, this exhibition introduces works depicting people in prayer, and the Buddha and gods themselves.
