Overview
Around the time of the drastic change from the Edo to Meiji Periods, the flourishing ukiyo-e art of the Edo Period was influenced by the changing times. How did modern ukiyo-e artists confront the changing times and depict the ukiyo-e art that was their legacy? From the ukiyo-e art and prints of Kobayashi Kiyochika, Ogata Gekko, Tsukioka Kogyo, Yoshida Hiroshi and other artists active in the modern era we will introduce the transition.
