Overview

The Aoki Collection possesses eight sword-related items including long swords, medium-length swords and spears, but with the cooperation of town residents who own swords, we are able to host this large-scale exhibit. These swords have been loved and cherished as ‘family treasures’ passed from generation to generation down the long course of history to the present. Many of the swords in Nakagawa Town are family heirlooms, each with its own history and swordsmith-imbued exquisite shape, surface design and wave pattern of polished crystalline beauty which we will bring together into one exhibit, introducing Japan’s unparalleled iron culture.
